An opinion blog from a single mom and survivor of suicide. My twins were 14 months old when my husband committed suicide, 3 years following the death of our daughter. This is a celebration of survival along with a unique perspective on how to get there!
Resources for Survivors & Suicide Prevention
As a survivor I can tell you that utilizing the services of Didi Hirsch's Bereavement Program had a profound impact on my recovery. They assigned me what I liken to a sponsor. His name was Rick and he would call me every day at the same time and listen to me talk or listen to dead air if I chose not to. His voice grew to be soothing and comforting in a way I don't think I could ever express to him. I have seen him at various events, and I find that I can't say anything. The words just well up inside my head and don't seem to want to come out.
So here are some resources should you find you need them. I encourage you to use them and hope that you find your own Rick in your time of need.
